KC AMS/NWA Announces Final 2013 Meeting on 17 December 2013 at Summit Hickory Pit BBQ in Lee's Summit, Missouri
The Joint Chapter of the Kansas City American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association will meet Tuesday evening, December 17 at Summit Hickory Pit BBQ in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Our guest speaker for the evening will be Tom Harris, hydrologist for the US Geological Survey's Kansas City Subdistrict Office. Mr. Harris will be speaking on the USGS stream gage program, their decision support to the US Army Corps of Engineers, and how they utilize NWS forecasts for their customers. We have a room reserved and will be ordering off the menu. Orders will be submitted at 6:30pm, so please be in attendance at or before that time. The business meeting will commence at 7pm. **WE WILL BE ELECTING NEW OFFICERS FOR THE 2014 CHARTER YEAR** If you have any interest in a leadership position within our organization and would like to help us move forward, please consider a nomination.
The members of the Kansas City Chapter of the American Meteorological Society/National Weather Association have voted to donate $100 to the Science Pioneers, which will provide awards for Kansas City-area students in the 4th through 12th grade in the area of science, engineering, math, and invention projects at the 62nd Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair March 13-16, 2013 at Union Station. Our very own Joe Lauria, President-elect of the chapter, will be presenting at the awards ceremony. The generosity of our members towards a great cause is always appreciated!
